Another good thing to do is tell your neighbors that you are having an open house so that they are aware of it. This way, they can act as advertisements for your open house by letting friends, acquaintances, and co-workers know about it.
One old-school technique that still works pretty well is sticking a sign in the yard. This is just another way to let people know when and where they can expect an open house. Talk to other Realtors as well. They could help you out with promoting your open house in exchange for promoting theirs.

I personally really like the idea of going the traditional way and having a sign in the yard to have people know that we're selling out home.
